Icelandic Team visit to Raw Taekwondo

A Viking Invasion

We were delighted to welcome our friends from Keflavik Taekwondo in Iceland for a weekend of training and fun. We last visited the club in 2018, which seemed like far too long ago and we decided it was time for a reunion on Scottish soil.

Keflavik Club Coach Helgi brought over a fantastic group of athletes to train with us. It was great to see everyone jump into our usual Friday night session and give it their all. Many students not wanting to leave the mats for a rest!

Saturday’s training consisted of an afternoon session and a chance for both teams to enjoy more training time together. It was great to see the students gelling together and training well. Saturday night we enjoyed a team meal out for the Icelandic students and their parents.

Sunday’s session was a full day seminar with GB high performance coach Steven Jennings. Giving all students the opportunity to learn high performance Taekwondo drills for competition. This was a fantastic opportunity to learn from one of GB’s top coaches.

We rounded off our weekend together with a fun bowling night which was a great way to relax and have a laugh after a long weekend. Though, some games did get a little competitive!

We hope to visit our friends in Iceland soon and look forward to training with them again.
