18 Sep Mark’s Monday Blog – RAW Taekwondo Cumbernauld
Raw Taekwondo Cumbernauld
Good afternoon all. I hope you’re all keeping fit and enjoying the fantastic weather!?. Fortunately it doesn’t rain in our Westfield Taekwondo centre (other centre’s are available but as a general rule aren’t very good) and so its the best place to be when classes are on.
LAST WEEK
The feedback on last weeks Monday and Wednesday classes was really good. There was a good mix of fitness, drills and more technically difficult combination kicks. In actual fact some of those were more demonstration kicks so if you were struggling to perform the techniques then don’t beat yourselves up!. Don’t worry you won’t be asked to perform a 540 reverse at your next grading. Having said that you are a competitive bunch and so I’m sure you would like to try.
Friday night sparring class was mobbed. We had 32 students of all ages. That’s the last 4 weeks where numbers have been consistently over 30 and which creates a fantastic atmosphere. The students have now been split up into their age categories in an effort to streamline the class and this is working well.
‘NEW’ SATURDAY FAMILY CLASS
For a while now there has been interest for a Saturday morning class and so the plans were put into action. The first class took place at the centre at 10.30am and I have to say it was successful. A great blend of traditional taekwondo that allows parents to practice with their kids. Its always good to the get back to basics no matter whether you’re an absolute novice or experienced.
We hope for more families to attend this week so if you’re interested, or know anyone who is then please spread the word and we’ll see you there!
THIS WEEK AT RAW
It’s the start of a new week which means more Taekwondo training, sparring and weights. Rather than letting me rumble on I thought it may be an idea to invite some audience participation (assuming there is one!). So what is it that you like about our classes, are there certain aspects of the training you find more enjoyable or parts you find harder??. Everyone’s different from height, age, weight, fitness levels and so there is bound to be a wide ranging response this question.
OTHER BUSINESS
Badminton update – there was banter a plenty last night. If you can’t win all the time then it’s definitely great stress relief to heckle, laugh and shout at your mates when they play bad shots. The usual suspects were all present and the standard, Robert aside, is getting a whole lot better. Hall was booked from 8pm to 9pm, didn’t get home until much later though as it took Duncan a while to stuff his paraphernalia into a sports poly bag, change out of his outdoor/indoor shoes before squeaking out in his crocs.
Exciting times
